Panasonic has unveiled a significant firmware update for its full-frame mirrorless LUMIX S5II and S5IIX cameras, aiming to enhance the shooting experience and streamline sharing functionality
The latest firmware, S5II Firmware V3.0 and S5IIX Firmware V2.0, addresses the evolving needs of creators by improving efficiency in both production and post-production workflows.
These updates bring crucial time-saving benefits, aligning with LUMIX’s ongoing commitment to supporting creators.
Key highlights of the firmware update include:
- Native Camera to Cloud Integration with Adobe’s Frame.io: The firmware now supports compatibility with Adobe Camera to Cloud, allowing automatic uploading, backup, sharing, and collaborative work on images and videos via the cloud. This integration facilitates seamless sharing of captured photos (JPEG/RAW) and Proxy videos, enabling remote real-time feedback during capture and collaborative editing among production teams.
- Proxy Video Recording: A new feature that records a low bit-rate proxy file simultaneously with video recording, facilitating quicker and smoother data transfer, editing, and post-production processes.
- Improved Auto-focus Recognition: Enhanced real-time auto-focus system recognises people among multiple subjects more efficiently. Additionally, animal eye recognition and car/motorcycle recognition functions have been added, catering to various shooting scenarios.
- Enhanced E.I.S. Performance: Introduction of a High mode in E-Stabilisation (Video) function, along with perspective distortion correction, ensures more stable footage, especially when shooting on the move.
- SH Pre-Burst Shooting: This new function records bursts before shooting begins, allowing retroactive burst shooting up to the moment the shutter button is fully pressed.
The firmware update underscores Panasonic’s commitment to providing creators with tools that enhance creativity and productivity.
