Canon has announced the release of two new flagship models in the Cinema EOS system – the EOS C700 (EF/PL) and EOS C700 GS PL. Both models capture creative slow motion 4K video footage internally with high frame rates of up to 59.94P/50P and 2K up to 200p/240p (sensor crop mode), or 4K RAW up to 100P/120P, to the optional dockable Codex RAW recorder. The EOS C700 (EF/PL) is available from December 2016 with the RRP $35,000 / £28,839 inc VAT, and the EOS C700 GS PL is available from Q1 2017 with an RRP of $38,000 / £30,789 inc VAT. The Canon XC15 is a professional compact 4K camcorder with high-end audio interface. The camera can record UHD (3840 x 2160) 4K footage at 25p or 24p to an internal CFast 2.0 card at up to 305Mbps, or Full HD to an SD card at up to 50Mbps. The Sphericam 2, said to be the world’s first 360˚ VR camera capable of self-stitching and live streaming 4K video in real-time, is to start shipping. Full-scale production is scheduled to begin this July following a successful Kickstarter campaign and $5 million investment from China’s Kingnet Technologies.
