Alpha 9 II, containing a host of delights for Moviemakers

Sony has announced they will be supporting our future generation of filmmakers and television creatives by providing a wide range of training services, and products to boot! These will help give a hands on experience and skill sets, which are necessary to thrive in the media industry. They will be working with new sixth-form, the London Screen Academy, hoping to inspire and make immeasurable the skills of aspiring content creators.

Sony has revealed the new full-frame FX9 camcorder with a 6K sensor, Fast Hybrid Auto Focus system similar to the A7 and A9 mirrorless cameras and dual base ISO for great low-light performance. Hot on the heels of the full-frame £17,000 Canon C500 Mark II launched last week, the new flagship Sony camcorder is set to be significantly cheaper at around £12,000 but doesn’t record Raw internally. For that, it has to go to an external recorder. And although the Sony sensor is 6K, the camera only records in 4K as it downsizes the footage.

Canon has revealed a brand new Mark II version of its Cinema EOS C500 with a 5.9K full-frame sensor, internal Raw Light recording like the EOS C200 and 4K 4:2:2 10bit XF-AVC recording to CFExpress cards. The C500 Mark II is set to be unveiled to the public at next week's IBC show in Amsterdam. The price will be £16,999 including VAT.

Nikon has unveiled three new products aimed at the pro market. The D6 is the company's latest pro DSLR, the 120-300mm f/2.8 zoom is the first of its kind from Nikon and will come in an F mount. No further technical details have yet been announced. But there is also a new 24mm f/1.8 lens for the Z-mount for the Nikon Z 6 and Z 7. It will cost £1,049.

Samyang’s new 18mm lens weighs just 145g, making it the lightest and smallest 18mm super wide-angle autofocus lens currently on the market

Panasonic’s new S1H is not only the chunkiest full-frame mirrorless camera on the market, it packs the biggest punch in terms of spec with its 6K resolution, 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording, V-Log just like the Varicam models, no time restrictions on recording, waveforms and lots more
